MASKS!

Today's lesson was all about comedia dell'arte masks.

We started off the lesson by sitting in a circle and talking and sharing information about masks. Then Miss. Daley passed some masks to us. i got one called perolina.

After that, we got into our pizza groups and made a scene based on our characters. Again i was one of the servants along with Annie. we made a very interesting scene. We also had to make the audience laugh if possible so we added a bit of slapstick and we made things go wrong ( spat into the apple pie). Though i think we could work better as a group i think we went pretty well with this. Im really looking forward to this term of comedia dell'arte.

WARM UPS AND GROUP GAMES

So today we did some warm ups:-




1) Is there someone...

recounting- inn this gamme there is one person in the middle and the rest of the people sit on chairs in a circle. the middle person has to ask a question and whoever is linked with that question has to get up and move chairs. Similarly we also played a game called, 'do you like your neighbor?' where the person in the middle asks you if you like your neighbor. if you say yes, the two people sitting beside you swap seats and the person the middle has to try and get one of those seats. but if you say no, everybody has to get up and change seats.

reflecting - for this game you need quick reflexes and independent thinking ability.

conclusion- i think i was pretty good at this game because i didnt have to stand in middle. but i still think i need to work more on my independent thinking ability.




Then after this, we were told to get into pairs and discuss facts about comedia dell'arte. after we finished we had to get into groups and perform 3 freeze frames to interpret the information we just shared.

 Following this we had to get into a group and enact scenes from comedia dell'arte. this was a fun activity and helped me learn more about how actors in comedia dell'arte perform. 

FIRST DAY OF DRAMA

                                                                     My first logbook entry of the year!


So today was our first lesson of the year! as usual it was a pretty brilliant lesson. we started off with a few warm up games and then moved onto the idea of comedia dell'arte. so these are a few of the games we did:-




1). Chairs

recounting- there were several people sitting on chairs around the room. one chair was empty. there was one person who had to get to the empty chair and the others had to stop him.




reflecting- so for this game you need to think interdependently and work more as a team.

conclusion- personally, i think i needed to work with the class more because i did stuff up at times.




2) Comedia short scene

recounting- we were sorted into pizza groups and i was with Annie, Manny and Brodie. we were characters from comedia dell'arte the daughter (Annie), the miser father,(Manny),the know-it-all doctor (Brodie), and i was the cheeky servant.

reflecting- for this activity you wold need cooperation from the entire group and to be more interdependently connected with the rest of the group members.

conclusion- for this activity i really didnt have any of my friends in the group, so I i couldnt work with them as well as would if i worked with my friends. but this is a good example for me to make me realise that i will not always work with my friends, so i just have to cope up.
